If there is no wind, row!

If there is no wind, row!

"If there is no wind, row!"
~ Proverb

This quote inspired me to make a new category in this blog: motivational. Then I searched for suitable picture as an illustration. There are many wonderful pics on Flickr.com. I chose one from the photostream of Petervanallen (thanks Peter!). The original picture has title "row row row your boat". Originally, its size is 836*836. I have it resized to 1024*768 and cropped to match with the new size.

I think you could get the insight of the quote. It's about optimism to deal with many problems in our lives. We have to keep struggling. The given spirit drives movements from inside. We have to believe that our dreams will come true if we do something and give up not! [skd]

The royal seal of Kraton Jogja

Lambang Kraton Jogja

Still from the land of Jogja, now I present to you the royal seal of Sultan Hamengku Buwana. In Javanese language the seal is called "Praja Cihna". Kings of Kasultanan Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat (Jogja or Yogyakarta) used the symbol to validate their official letters. Since the kingdom has become a cultural power of the people, sometimes common people who has no relationship with the palace also use the symbol to express their pride of being Jogja people. They put stickers or badges of it on their motorbikes, cars, tables or on the guest's room wall. You're right, I post this picture so that you can put it on your desktop as well! [skd]

Gigantic statue of Vishnu

Vishnu - Garuda Wishnu Kencana

Vishnu, also known as Narayana, is supreme being or Ultimate Reality for Vaishnavas and a manifestation of Brahman in the Advaita or Smarta traditions of Hinduism (Wikipedia).

This picture is a sequel to the picture I've posted before, The Head of Garuda. It was taken in the same place: Garuda Wishnu Kencana, Jimbaran, Bali, Indonesia. I Nyoman Nuarta is the engineer behind the project of that spectacular site. [skd]

The Head of Garuda - Bali

Garuda Wishnu Kencana

I toke this picture on 2003. It was the last time I visited Bali. Yes, it is the gigantic bronze statue of the head of Garuda in Garuda Wishnu Kencana area, Jimbaran, Bali, Indonesia. It is a spectacular tourism place in Bali, where there are two big bronze statues. Another one is the statue of Wishnu (Vishnu), one of great gods of Hindu.

I got the picture with Nikon F-10, a celluloid manual camera, and scanned it with CanoScanLIDE 20 to have it digitalized. I just cropped the head, gave it yellow outer glow, and replaced the original background with a yellow-black gradient circle layer.

I thought of impression when I choose that black color as background. Glowing and gradient yellow color will make an aura effect of the object. The head of Garuda should look brave and powerful, as it is the riding bird of Wishnu. [skd]

I love Jogja!

Tugu Jogja

Wonderful memories of the great culture in it's solemnity bears the loving spirit forever..."

That's what I can say about Jogja, my beloved hometown. In there I was born and enjoyed my childhood very much. Being educated as a Javanese boy I feel the love to the traditions and the heritages of my country. I feel the aura of spirituality and religiousity. There's a kind power to live the spirit. Living apart from my motherland has risen all wonderful memories of the city and the richness. The miss of it has driven me to live it.

Javanese culture which takes orientation to the royal traditions and culture has become the spirit of all Javanese all over the world. Jogja and Surakarta are the most centrums of their traditions and culture, and they bring the spirit wherever they are.

Above is the picture of Tugu (a memorial building stone) of Jogja. That's an icon of the city. Actually it's one amongst another three in the constellations of royal and sacred sites of Jogja: Mount Merapi - Tugu - Sultan Palace - and Indian Ocean. There's a virtually straight line connecting the sites. Mount Merapi is in the North while Indian Ocean in the South. When you come to Jogjakarta - Indonesia, you'll see the Tugu which place is near the Tugu Train Station. So, welcome to Jogja, "The never ending Asia"! [skd]

Frog's shadow

Frog's shadow

When I joined Leoxa.com and looked for a template to choose, I found a picture from one of them. That's an artistic banner I thought. I downloaded it and now I'm sharing it to you. I used Adobe Photoshop CS to make a modification.

I give it "Frog's shadow" as the title and use two fonts: Forte.ttf (for the title) and Trebuchet MS.ttf (for the credits). I just cropped the picture and put a gradient circle for the background. [skd]

It's easy to make a wallpaper!

Butterfly on A Flower 1024x768
If you have a digital camera, you can create wallpaper from the pictures you have token. It's no doubt that you can do it by yourself. Even if you have only a digital camera in your cell phone, that's no problem.

People put a special picture on their desktop PC or laptop. Sometimes they do not mind whether well pictured or not. A photo of a beloved person such as: baby, girlfriend, boyfriend, or just their own picture could be the chosen to put on it. Yes, I am talking about something valuable for someone. However, sometimes people put certain wallpaper on their desktop just because the picture is artistic.

There are many sites in the internet, which make beautiful artistic wallpapers and photos available to download freely. Indeed, they are so creative and awesome that I feel inferior. However, I have made a decision to cheer them up by this blog so that you have another choice from the stuffs I will present to you.

Happy Bee - 1024x768Well, the pictures displayed on this post are the first two wallpapers you can get. They are from my own digital camera. I have them edited with Adobe Photoshop CS. All are from the garden in front of my office. Oooh, what a lucky it was when I met two beautiful animals: a butterfly and a bee. They both were seeking honey amongst flowers. [skd]

About

Photography and graphic-designing are funny hobbies. That’s what I feel when I’m doing with the pictures on this blog. Making wallpapers is just my first entry to those interests. The rest is a process of learning, appreciation, exploration and creativity. The results are more than just materials. They could be translations of self-actualization upon the beauties before me.
What about you?

This is my blog about wallpapers that I put on my desktop ever. I would like to share them with you. I like photography. In some occasions I found beautiful objects that would be nice if they got captured with my camera. However not all of wallpapers I will upload on here are from my own pictures. Sometimes I got them from the internet. About these kind of pictures I will tell you where they are from as I have to appreciate the owners of them. Of course upon them all I try to make modifications by my own creativity. As I like graphic-designing as one of my hobbies this blog will be my "garage" wherein I do some practices.

Through this blog I want to share my creativity on photography and graphic-designing. Beauty has to be expressed so that we human can appreciate how wonderful this world is! Pictures and words are just how to communicate. The beauty is deeper and from beyond. I try to attach the stories behind the pictures.

Well, here you are. Hope you like them. [skd]
